How to Use the Device

The LacriPen is simple to use, with no anesthetic required.

How to use the device:
  1. The patient is instructed to look straight ahead.
  2. The doctor or technician presses the button to activate the system as the 1 x 3 mm gold-covered sensor is brought near the eye and lightly touches the tear film.
  3. The osmolarity is displayed on the handpiece’s LCD in milliosmols.

No tear extraction is necessary which means no evaporation errors, and no reflex tearing ensures an accurate reading.  This low-cost disposable sensor covered with pure gold is safe for humans and animals.  Each disposable sensor is used once per test or per eye.
