The LacriPen is simple to use, with no anesthetic required.
- The patient is instructed to look straight ahead.
- The doctor or technician presses the button to activate the system as the 1 x 3 mm gold-covered sensor is brought near the eye and lightly touches the tear film.
- The osmolarity is displayed on the handpiece’s LCD in milliosmols.
No tear extraction is necessary which means no evaporation errors, and no reflex tearing ensures an accurate reading. This low-cost disposable sensor covered with pure gold is safe for humans and animals. Each disposable sensor is used once per test or per eye.
